Fiji Day Celebration

Fiji Day Celebration at Suva Muslim College

On October 10, Suva Muslim College joined the nation in celebrating Fiji Day, marking the 54th anniversary of Fiji’s independence. It was a day filled with patriotism, joy, and reflection on the progress and unity of our beloved nation.

The celebration was a vibrant display of Fijian culture, heritage, and national pride. The entire school community—students, teachers, and staff—participated in various activities highlighting Fiji’s rich history and diverse cultures.

The day’s events started with a flag-raising ceremony, where the national anthem was sung enthusiastically. This was followed by inspiring speeches from our school’s leadership, emphasizing the significance of Fiji Day as a moment to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and the unity that binds us as one nation.

Throughout the day, students participated in cultural performances, sporting events, and traditional games, showcasing the talents and creativity of our diverse student body. The colorful displays of traditional Fijian dance, songs, and art were a true testament to the spirit of unity in diversity that Fiji stands for.

The Fiji Day parade was another highlight, with students proudly waving the Fijian flag, displaying banners, and dressing in traditional Fijian attire. It was a sight to behold, with everyone demonstrating their love for Fiji in their unique ways.

As we reflected on Fiji’s journey since gaining independence, we were reminded of the importance of community, resilience, and progress. At Suva Muslim College, we believe in fostering these values, encouraging students to appreciate their heritage, while looking forward to a brighter future for Fiji.

This Fiji Day celebration was not just a commemoration of the past, but also an opportunity to renew our commitment to building a better, more united Fiji.
